Style It: Blue Denim

Hey guys, today I'm going to show you how I like to style different denim pieces 4 different ways! I feel like denim is a bit tricky to wear, mainly because it can go a bit awry so easily (ie. dark wash jeans with a similar wash jacket--not my fave combo). Today I'll be styling some jean shorts, a button-up denim skirt, some flare jeans, and lastly my denim jacket!

1. Shorts & Statement
So I may or may not have matched my hair tie
to my necklace...
*totally non-chalantly smelling a hibiscus
because it went with my flower theme ok*
top: Lord & Taylor
shorts: Ditto Jeans
shoes: (hidden lol) Jack Rogers in Platinum
necklace: J. Crew

Usually, denim shorts aren't really my cuppa tea (I prefer my chinos!), but I actually love this look! For me, it has a bit of a boho vibe, especially with the loose fitting shirt. Of course, I added my favorite classic J. Crew rose necklace for bit of color and loved how it looked!

2. Button Down Bottoms

top: Lord & Taylor
skirt: Buffalo by David Bitton
scarf: Tory Burch (thanks mom!)
shoes: Tory Burch (thanks again mom!)

When people hear denim skirts, they most likely are (or at least I am!) reminded of those denim skirts worn back in elementary school with the sequined/ tie dyed pockets, rhinestones.... should I even go on?! But when I saw this adorable skirt in Lord and Taylor (and on sale for 40% off!), I had to snatch it up! Paired with this pom-pom scarf courtesy of my fab mom's closet, I think it erases any trace of my past denim skirt phase (oy vey).

3. Ruffle and Flare
rather odd pose, but at least my highlights
look pretty cool

suit tan line
top: Lilly Pulitzer (old)
jeans: Tractr brand
shoes: Vintage (thanks again, mom!)

This year, especially this spring, I feel like flare jeans have totally reinstated themselves as a fashion staple! Originally I was in search of a light wash pair, but when I tried on these gems, they fit perfectly! While I like to pair them with some chunky heels like in the photos, I also love how they look with my Jack Rogers.

4. The Jacket

top: Anthropology
pants: J. Crew Factory
denim jacket: Gap
shoes: Tory Burch

I feel like a denim jacket is a necessity/staple item for anyone's closet! There are so many styles/fits/washes that you really can't go wrong. My pants were a recent purchase from J. Crew factory, which I got for a total steal! These are the Winnie Pants, which happen to be my all-time favorite style of pants in existence because they just fit me so well. I definitely recommend them! My Anthropology shirt is a new favorite as well, I just love the ruffles (especially on the back!)!

I hope you all enjoyed this post, let me know you favorite outfit! Talk to you next week
Until next time,
                          Ti :)

P.S. You won't BELIVE what I found (in abundance, might I add!) at J. Crew Factory. Yes, it's the famous, coveted herringbone vest! Personally, I hold the unpopular opinion and passed this one up, but I had to snap a photo ;)

School Year Motivation+Recap

Hi guys! I know that my posts have been coming at different times, but now that I won't be traveling as much the rest of the summer, I'm planning on going back posting Sundays :)

A long-story-short recap of my summer thus far:
-A trip to Mexico
How adorable is this beach-y
cake made for me & my friends?!

-2 track camps at colleges
In Boston, we found a cupcake shoppe
with PINK LEMONADE cupcakes
 (with straws)!! I DIED
Packed up (for the second time!)

-Working a few days a week
-Babysitting
-...And of course, the dreaded summer work/SAT prep

Basically, I've felt like I had been arriving home just to be whisked away on another trip! Don't get me wrong, I'm so grateful I've been able to go on these trips, but I'm glad to be home for a while :)

On another note, let's talk about something that nobody wants to give a thought about: SCHOOL. Without further delay, here are some of my tips on preparing yourself to conquer the new year!

1. Understand what has to get done
I feel like doing this helps me mentally configure how long it'll all take and what I can do first.

I mapped out my work for the summer, entailing:
-reading 2 novels
-reading a rather large packet for APUSH
-completing a smaller packet for Spanish 4H
-SAT prep

I know this can overwhelm some people, but just take it one step at a time!

2. Take some time to unplug
I don't know about you, but I feel like I'm always on every social media site when I'm bored, stressed, etc. Recently, I manned up and actually *gasp* logged out of every social media account I have on my phone (yes, even Pinterest!), and I already see a difference in my productivity!

Also, a while back I downloaded the "SAT Question of the Day" app, which I totally recommend! It essentially gives you either an english or math question every day to answer!

3. Make it pretty to get excited!
I'm a believer in this 100%, people! For APUSH, we are required to take notes in the "Cornell Notes" format (pretty annoying). But it doesn't have to be thaaat painful of an experience! I love to use colored post-its, pens, you-name-it to get motivated.

I also have a white-board on my cork board wall (see more of that in my room tour!), and I recently started to write SAT words & their meanings on it! THIS HAS TOTALLY HELPED ME! I find myself not only remembering them, but using them (really!) throughout the day as well.
I'm also redecorating/ arranging my boards... more on that
in another post ;)

4. Be early to pick up some school supplies
I know it makes the summer mood dissipate, but don't wait until the week before to get supplies! Chances are everyone will be in a mad dash to get binders and such, and before you know it, you'll be stuck with some not-so-great color binder. Yes, I know not EVERYONE cares about this, but I'm rather crazy excited when it comes to new school supplies ;)
Be as early as possible to pickup review books!
Those go quick too!

That's all for today! I'm super excited and ready to get back to my normal posting schedule, and am planning a fun fashion post that will be up on Sunday!

Until next time,

My Summer Favorites!

Hey guys! A little while back, I was tagged by Cathleen from www.classycathleen.blogspot.com to write up a post about my June favorites! Since I'm quite a bit late on that (whoopsie), I decided to just write about some of my favorite things for the summer instead. If you haven't already, you totally need to head over to Cathleen's blog to check out her favorites, as well as her other recent posts! So, let's get started

1. Pop-Fizz-Clink (Kate Spade reference ;))
Whether I'm at the beach or at the track, my Tervis water bottle has totally been a necessity for me! I talked about it in one of my "Loving Lately" posts a few weeks ago, and am still totally obsessed. Also, Herbert's Lemonade (preferably pink!) has been my go-to beverage of choice this summer (truth: I admit I am addicted to lemonade.)

2. Shades
After breaking my rather ancient and worn Michael Kors aviators, I'd been on the hunt for some new shades. These Kate Spade ones have the perfect shaped lenses for me! I love that they're not quite a cat-eye, yet not exactly the way-farer style.

3. Pearls
'Nuff said. I recently purchased a new pair of 8.5mm pearls, and am in love!

4./5. Track Essentials
For the past 4 days, I was away at a track camp that was held at a college. Surprisingly, I actually enjoyed living in a dorm! My roomie and I became great friends in such a short time, and I met so many other great people! At camp, I loved using my Nike Sportswatch+ as well as wearing my Nike pros to keep cool.

6./7. Shoes Galore
If you're in need  of a comfy pair of flip-flops, look no further! My Rainbows are my absolute go-to sandal this summer, and I actually wear them with almost everything!

I've also been loving my Superga sneakers. I think they're a great alternative to Vans or Converse, which I feel make my feet look similar to those of a clown :P I have them in navy and a cool blue tye-dye color, and am totally lusting for these white/cream ones!

8. Denim
I love wearing denim jackets on cool summer nights, especially over a maxi dress. I got a lighter wash one from Gap, and so recommend their jackets! Also: keep on the lookout for this jacket (along with some other denim) in a near-future post! *hinthint* ;)

9. Show Some Spirit
There are few things that feel better than slipping into a comfy spirit jersey after a day at the beach or pool and unwinding as the sun sets. I have a few of them, but my lavender Souther Shirt Company (similar one here) one definitely takes the cake.

10./11. Travel
So far this summer, I've done a bit of traveling. I went to Mexico with some friends, a college for a track program, and this weekend I'm off to another school for-you guessed it-another track camp. My Vera Bradley duffel bag has been a life saver when it comes to lugging everything around-in style of course! I also love to use my Vineyard Vines tote as a beach bag, carry on, etc.

12. Summer Reading
As much as all of us want to think about it, summer school work unfortunately still exists. Sigh. My annotations for all my assigned summer readings have been written on some cute post-its, which some of you may know is yet another one of my addictions (see what I mean here!).

That's about it! If you have noticed, I sort of got into the rhythm of posting towards the middle of the week rather than my usual Sunday schedule. This is pretty much due to all of my traveling recently! Hopefully I can get back to Sundays after this weekend, which (should) be my last weekend from home for a while! See you all later!

Until next time,
                          Ti

P.S. Here's a picture of one of the beautiful beaches from my Mexico trip!

Welcome to My Crib (Room Tour)

Hey guys! Cheesy title aside, today I'm going to be showing you around my room via photos! Hopefully this isn't too confusing to follow, but whatever I think we can do it ;) Also, there's going to most likely be an obscene amount of pictures, but again, whatev... :)
{Additionally: I swear I had it scheduled to post on Sunday!! I will figure out this posting shenanigans ASAP!}

So this is what my room looks like through my door...

...aaaand this is what it looks like behind my door!

On my door I like to keep seasonal scarves (light
weight for summer) and some favorite hats

I also had to show my sticker collection because stickers. Hahaha also, I kept my candles from my 16th birthday kind of as a memory, and I think it's a cute touch :)

So when you look to the left when you first walk in my room, you see my main dresser, spinning bookshelf, and sewing table! I also competed in horse shows for a few years and still have some ribbons up because tbh they're impossible to take down! In the bottom corner of the picture you can see the glamourous Ulta bag on my bed ;)

Here's a close-up of my bookshelf from P.B. Teen. It's pretty cool because it spins, and gives a ton of storage! I keep in it (aside from my The Clique collection & other books!) some bows (as a decoration), my sewing box, etc. {and, of course, glass lemonade bottles because as we all know lemonade is my life}

If you look just next to my sewing machine, you'd see my little corkboard setup shown below! This is also from P.B. Teen, and I picked out each board in 3rd grade before I had decided my room's color scheme (hence the random hues ;) I also printed out some photos to look like Polaroid pics, and still plan to add some more!

Finally, my bed! If you look head-on at my bed, the corkboard wall is to the left. A quick story on the color scheme: I saw this beautiful and super soft coral chevron blanket at Home Goods on clearance for $10, and decided I needed (read: lusted for) it! I already had the bedding (which I am in LOVE with), and went along with it even though they colors were random. My mom and I found the ruffle pillows at another Home Goods, along with the blue gingham pillow in the middle (it looks a bit gray in the photo). I also got another coral blanket because I just really like blankets to be honest...

So do my parent know me or what?? #monogrameverythang
Above my bed I have some canvases that I painted, which look rather awkward because I hung them by myself! Nonetheless, I think they're pretty cute and add a nice touch. My favorite is the middle one (my attempt at painting Lilly's "You Gotta Regatta").
Middle quote: "You can't control the wind, but you can
adjust you sails"
Adjacent to my bed is my desk, which I talked about in a school organization post a few weeks ago. And yes, this rather artistic photo of highlighters was necessary ;)

Finally, I have two closets of the same size on the wall to the right of my desk. The one on the left has my clothes, which I organize by hanging them, and folding using bright and fun blue bins as well as this cool hanging organizer which are both from The Container Store!

The other closet holds mainly junk (lol), but also shoes, bags, sweatshirts (bottom right), and extra school supplies.

Hopefully you enjoyed my attempt at a virtual room tour! See you all next time!

Until then,
                 Ti :)

Vamos a la Playa: Mexico Packing List

Hey everyone! I know I'm really beating this trip to a pulp {especially because I've mentioned it way too many times recently!}, but I thought I'd share my packing list with you guys :)

In the midst of my extreme packing procrastination, I whipped up this cute packing list using this Lilly print in "Behind the Gate" from an ah-mazing website that has so many high quality patterns! This one is totally one of my all-time faves.

In case anybody was curious, I am probably the most indecisive person in the world, and am constantly thinking about hypothetical situations; "But if my back is hurting, I'll want a backpack as a carry-on, but then again a tote can be a good beach bag.." So on and so forth! However, I FINALLY decided on using my older Lilly tote in the far left picture as a carry-on because I find myself really only carrying 1 or 2 novels, my phone, snacks, and any other electronics I bring along.

The middle pic shows my absolute holy-grail travel essential, my Vera Bradley duffel! I'm pretty sure it's the large size, and it fits so much more than I imagined! Not to mention it stands out on the conveyor belt ;) This is the bag that gets "checked" at the airport.

Finally on the right, I have my black North Face backpack (with either a Get Nauti or Let's ChaCha print bow!) and my paisley Scout lacrosse backpack (which I ironically use for track). While both were contenders for my carry-on, I had to go with the Lilly tote!

These are just some more of my carry-on essentials. But you ask: Tianna, why do you have two pairs of ear buds? I say: The odds were not in my favor, alas, and the day after buying a replacement pair, I found my old ones that were MIA for weeks! Just my luck!

I tried to limit my jewels for this trip, but let's face it, I failed. Miserably ;)

These are some of my night-time outfits for my trip! As you may have noticed, I switched up what I'm bringing when compared to the list shown in the beginning of this post due to a last minute shopping trip with the madre! I also wore the first outfit in my Summer Outfits post! As mentioned in that post as well, I totally feel like my tank top from Francesca's is so similar to Lilly's "Behind the Gate" print, and for significantly cheaper!

I got this hanging makeup/toiletry organizer from Ulta, and it's super convenient! It even has a compartment for brushes, which is great because I always find my brushes tend to get squashed during travel. It even rolls up to take up minimal space in your suitcase!

That's all for today! I hope you enjoyed this post chicas ;)

Until next time,
                         Ti

P.S. VV hat and Lilly croakies make everything cooler :)
